Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Manager/ Senior Accountant to lead and enhance the operational financial function within a growing organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director to ensure operational financial excellence, strengthen controls, and translate financial data into actionable insights. This role also requires strategic collaboration on governance matters and occasional travel within the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Finance Delivery
- Completion of monthly management accounts alongside the Finance Director
- Ensure accurate reporting of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Oversee budgeting, rolling forecasts, and fixed asset management (including depreciation and asset creation/disposal on ERP systems such as SAP)
- Supervise transactional finance (AP/AR/payroll) and month-end close processes
Strengthen Financial Controls & Compliance
- Enhance internal controls and reporting systems
- Support year-end audit completion
- Ensure VAT, tax, and regulatory compliance
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks
Strategic Support
- Prepare detailed financial analysis to drive decision-making
- Assist in forecasting meetings and refine processes for greater accuracy
- Understand key business drivers to provide proactive advisory support
Finance Team Leadership
- Manage and develop the finance team through mentoring, process discipline, and systems improvement
- Embed automation where possible and ensure scalable operations to support business growth
Business Partnering with Operations
- Collaborate with department heads, providing analytical insights and technical expertise
- Support spending and margin analysis to ensure profitability
- Stay informed on market, competitor, and industry trends to prepare the team for new challenges
Leadership Integration
- Act as a key member of the leadership team, partnering across functions to maximise organisational performance
Person Specification:
- A degree-level education with a professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
- Ideally previously operated at Management Accountant level or similar
- Proven track record as part of a general management team in a business environment
- Extensive experience in ERP systems, particularly SAP
- Commercial understanding with strong analytical and advisory skills
Desirable Skills:
- A proven ability to balance hands-on operational delivery with strategic thinking
- Evidence of driving system improvements and automation
Salary
c£60,000 Basic salary plus full benefits package, On site working
