Head of Finance

Our client, a rapidly growing SME, are looking for a talented Head of Finance to lead the finance function, being the first in-house finance hire. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning whilst working with senior leadership to drive business growth.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, P&L, and balance sheets
• Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and financial planning
• Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts, payroll, and VAT returns
• Work closely with the leadership on budgeting and cost control
• Lead financial audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and invoicing
• Maintain and optimise financial systems, always striving for system improvement

Requirements

• Proven experience as a FC/FM/HoF or similar role within a recruitment firm
• Fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
• Strong proficiency in Xero
• Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, reporting, and tax compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset
• Ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of UK and US financial environments (advantageous)
