Company:  Goodman Jones
Location: London
Closing Date: 07/07/2026
Hours: Full Time
Type: Permanent

Job Description

You know your stuff. Now you want more from it.

Maybe you’re ready for a role with more ownership. More client exposure. More interesting work. More involvement in reviewing and supporting trainees. Or maybe you simply want a clearer route for progression within a firm where people genuinely stay and grow.

We’re recruiting for this Accounts Supervisor opportunity following an internal promotion, the kind of progression we actively encourage across the firm.

You’ll be joining a small, collaborative and technically strong Accounts team working across a varied client base including owner-managed businesses, charities, international subsidiaries and entrepreneurial growing businesses.

You’ll work closely with our three Managers, Accounts Trainees and the wider firm, combining hands-on accounts preparation and compliance work with workflow coordination, technical review responsibilities and day-to-day trainee support.

And importantly, you’ll be joining a firm that continues to invest in its people, technology and working environment, without losing the supportive and down-to-earth culture that makes people stay.

What You’ll Be Doing

Following an initial settling-in period to get to know the team, clients and systems, you’ll begin taking ownership of a portfolio of non-audit assignments heavily weighted towards accounts preparation, with a proportion of corporation tax work.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax computations and VAT work across a varied portfolio.
  • Reviewing work prepared by trainees and junior team members, providing clear and supportive feedback which helps support their progression and development.
  • Supporting workflow management across multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Working closely with Partners, Managers and clients to ensure smooth delivery of assignments.
  • Supporting the development of trainees through day-to-day guidance and technical support you’ll often be their first point of contact for technical questions and workflow support.
  • Working with a range of systems including CCH, Xero, QuickBooks and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Contributing to workflow efficiencies, process improvements and evolving digital ways of working, including the use of evolving digital tools and technologies.

Beyond the day job, you’ll be joining a genuinely close-knit and collaborative team. People support each other properly during busy periods, share knowledge openly and enjoy spending time together outside of work too.

From away days and social events to quiz nights and sports teams, there’s a strong sense of community across the firm, without any pressure to constantly socialise if that’s not your thing.

The Details

  • Salary: up to £50,000
  • Hours: Full time
  • Contract: Permanent, full-time
  • Location: Fitzrovia, London – hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home)
  • Benefits: 33 days’ annual leave, flexible bank holiday offering, above-average pension contribution and much more (full listing available on our careers page).

Who We’re Looking For

Whilst we are happy to support onboarding into our systems, workflows and ways of working, we really need someone already working within a practice environment at Senior or Supervisor level who is looking to broaden their exposure, technical development and responsibility within a collaborative and supportive environment.

We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Are ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Have strong experience across statutory accounts preparation and compliance assignments within practice.
  • Are comfortable reviewing work and supporting trainees or junior team members.
  • Can manage multiple assignments and deadlines within a client portfolio environment.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with both clients and colleagues.
  • Produce accurate, well-presented and technically strong work with good attention to detail.
  • Are comfortable working across multiple systems, digital workflows and evolving technologies.
  • Have experience using systems such as CCH, Xero, QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Enjoy supporting and developing others as part of day-to-day team working.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Exposure to consolidated accounts or IFRS reporting.
  • Experience working with charity or not-for-profit clients.
  • Experience contributing to process improvements or workflow efficiencies.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot or AI-enabled workplace tools.
