Audit Manager - small practice - Paddington

We are working with a growing, independent accountancy practice based in Paddington, working with a broad range of SME and owner-managed business clients across London and the South East.

About the Role

Our audit offering is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Audit Manager to take ownership of audit assignments, lead client relationships, and help shape the development of our audit function. This is a hands-on role in a small firm environment where you will have real influence and visibility.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end audit assignments (planning, fieldwork, completion)
• Reviewing audit files and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS where applicable
• Leading audit teams on-site and providing coaching to juniors and seniors
• Acting as the main point of contact for audit clients
• Identifying risks, issues, and delivering practical recommendations
• Liaising with partners on technical and commercial matters
• Supporting business development and proposal work for new audit clients
• Ensuring audits are delivered within budget and deadlines

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified (will consider people who are qualified by experience!)
• Experienced in UK external audit (typically 4–7+ years)
• Currently at Assistant Manager or Manager level in a mid-tier/smaller practice

Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards and financial reporting
• Confident managing client relationships and audit teams
• Comfortable working in a smaller practice environment with variety and autonomy
• Proactive, commercially aware, and detail-focused
