Senior Finance Manager

Cobalt is working with a leading UK developer to appoint a Senior Finance Manager for one of its regional business units.

This is a pivotal role within the regional finance function, responsible for managing the finance team, running robust finance processes and delivering accurate reporting, forecasting and business planning outputs.

The role:

• Line manage a team of 3 finance staff, ensuring processes are controlled and outputs are delivered accurately and on time
• Develop team members through coaching, objective setting, performance management and training
• Manage the consolidated monthly close process, ensuring sub-ledgers, interfaces and accounting judgements are completed in line with deadlines
• Submit actuals and forecast data to divisional and group teams through OneStream
• Prepare monthly management reporting, including commentary on YTD and full-year forecast variances
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure anomalies are cleared promptly
• Support accounting and forecasting for complex areas including land acquisitions, overage payables and closed sites
• Review WIP and land recoverability reports, working with commercial and land teams to resolve over / under-recovery issues
• Review WIP commitment and spend commitment with the Commercial Manager
• Prepare profit and cashflow forecasts, land bank projections and detailed business plans
• Support interaction with joint ventures where applicable
• Drive process improvement across the finance function

Candidate profile:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant
• Strong experience across financial accounting, management accounting and reporting
• Previous staff management experience is required
• Experience developing and coaching finance team members is beneficial
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and business planning experience
• Comfortable business partnering with non-finance stakeholders
• Able to challenge commercial and operational teams constructively
• Strong Excel capability
• Previous housebuilding, construction, development or property experience preferred but not essential

Package & details

Salary: £75,000 + £5k Car Allowance & Between 5-20% Disc. Bonus

Working pattern: Hybrid / 2 Days WFH
